About this demo
Every other app deletes your mistakes.
Inkling keeps erased handwriting as ghost ink, notices where you hesitated, pairs each erase with its correction, and links it to the moment in the lecture — so you can see what you learned, not just what you ended up with.
System
- Storage
- SQLite (local file)
- Class hotspots
- SQLite · computed in TypeScript“Where the class slowed down” on Progress: erasing per 30 s over every session of a lecture.
- AI re-teach
- Demo fixtures (DEMO_MODE, offline) — hand-checked cards for the demo lectureHelp cards, check questions, before/after readings, concept names.
- Read aloud
- Browser voice (speechSynthesis) — DEMO_MODE keeps read-aloud offline
- Microphone
- Off — Live lecture is available when you run Inkling yourselfSpeech is transcribed by your browser’s speech service (in Chrome, Google’s). The recording stays on the server that runs Inkling, for Replay 20 s.
- Mode
- DEMO_MODE — offline: no network requests
Lectures
- Calculus I — The Chain Rule (demo)The bundled demo lecture is synthetic: a generated six-minute chain-rule talk with a word-timed transcript, made for offline demos (scripts/make-demo-audio.mjs, make-demo-transcript.mjs).Teacher view — where the class got lost (anonymous)
The two-minute demo
- Session 1 reviewMaya's notes with ghost ink: a breakthrough she already earned, a correction, and a gap.
- The 01:40 correctionShe wrote cos(x²), erased it, rewrote cos(x²)·2x. The AI reads the before/after: she forgot the inner derivative. Answer the check question → breakthrough.
- The 04:10 gapSlow, erased, never rewritten while the lecture moved on. Replay 20 s hears what she missed.
- Compare with NotabilityThe exported final page next to the process it hides.
- ProgressSession 2 wrote that part through calmly — the gap resolved itself; the class hotspots show everyone slowed there too.
Under the hood
Precision and recall of the hesitation detector on a small labeled demo set, and the per-window signals behind every flagged moment.
